BeautyFriday: Dry Skin

Hey Readers,

Today, let’s get a bit into dry skin. A lot of us experience this, and it can be annoying! But there are some ways you can take care of it at home.

*** Please remember that not all facial masks and treatment recipes are for every skin type. Read through a recipe and decide if this is the facial mask for you based on your knowledge of your own skin type and problem areas.

Toner

Rosewater Skin Toner

Rosewater skin toner is a natural toner that freshens and tones your skin, and prepare it nicely for the application of your make-up. Rosewater also helps keep your face moisturized, fresh and balances the pH levels and is perfect for dry to sensitive skin.

Gather fresh rose blossoms.
Be careful to gather fresh rose pedals and never use pedals that have been sprayed with pesticides.

Place the petals in a pan covering them with fresh distilled water and place a heat resistant dish directly over the pedals to make them lay on the bottom of the pan.

Put the pan over a low heat for about 45 minutes to an hour, DO NOT BOIL. As the water heats up you will begin to see drops of rose oil forming on the surface of the water.

Soon the water will begin to have a rosy color to it and feel thick and oily, this means it is ready.

When the pedals have cooled use a tea strainer to strain the liquid and use your fingers to squeeze as much liquid from the pedals as possible. Store in the refrigerator.

Exfoliation

Yogurt Walnut Scrub

Use this on normal or combination skin. The nuts exfoliate old dry skin while the yogurt sooths.

1/4 cup plain yogurt; chilled

1/4 cup walnuts; ground or pulverized

Instructions:

Stir ingredients together. Apply to freshly cleaned face and gently massage.

Miracle Whip Exfoliator

Make sure all your hair is pulled back from your face. Apply a thin layer of the Kraft Miracle Whip all over your face, up to the eyelashes and make sure to also put some on your neck. The smell of it will be unpleasant—but the result worth it.

Leave on for 10 minutes, then massage gently. The dead skin cells on your face will roll off in rubbery little balls. Rinse your skin with tepid water, then cleanse with a toner or cleanser.

Use this everyday for 6-8 weeks, as it will slowly take away the dry, dead skin cells and reveal softer, smoother skin underneath.

Facial masks for dry skin

Autumn Apple Facial Mask

Just because the leaves on the trees are falling down dead, doesn't mean your skin has to. Get rid of those dead skins cells with this mask

Ingredients:

1/4 of an apple

1/2 Teaspoon Half and half

1 Teaspoon honey

1 Tablespoon Oatmeal

Instructions:

Mash with a fork in a small bowl and mix it together well. Then apply it to your face. Leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse off.

Chocolate Facial Mask

This moisturizing mask smells so good you'll be tempted to eat it rather than wear it

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

1 Tablespoon heavy cream (whipping cream)

1 teaspoon cottage cheese

4 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon oatmeal

Instructions:

Puree all ingredients in a blender. Apply to freshly cleaned face and leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat dry.

Trust only works when it’s both ways

Summary:

The RedLine is the perfect haven for a man of Ryder’s extensive desires and tastes. He uses the women of the club, much like they do him, with little care to know anything more than names, sometimes even less than that. His reputation for open-minded, tantalizing sex is renowned, and willing victims for this particular vampire are never at a shortage. At least until Catalym crashes into his life, taking over from the moment they’d met. And it isn’t long before her past life’s tribulations follow her, including a dangerous ex-boyfriend who hides far more than Ryder or his friends ever guess.

Excerpt Five (RATED R/XXX):

Her hand came out carefully to run her fingers across my abdomen. Her arms wrapped around my waist and she pulled her upper body around mine. Her deep ragged breathes fell hotly against my stomach, and seared through the cloth that separated her blessed mouth from my hard flesh.

“I never imagined the extent to which you like to abuse your body.”

The out of place comment gave me pause. I was stripped bare, and to hide was futile now in the face of everything else.

And I couldn’t tell if she thought it was a good or a bad thing.

“It doesn’t matter.” I said finally. The safest answer I could give her.

“Ryder, we are past the stage where you could lie to me,” Catalym reprimanded lightly. “If you enjoy it, why wouldn’t I want to do this for you? Before I thought it was just a little, but that isn’t the case, is it?”

“It isn’t fair.”

“What isn’t fair? That you give me the pleasure I desire, or the fact that you do not wish for me to reciprocate?” Catalym asked, honestly wanting to know.

“You don’t like it,” I said between clenched teeth.

I was very unused to explaining myself willingly to anyone, which I found myself doing with her constantly.

“I like that it excites you this much,” Catalym began carefully. “What my sister and my step-Father did to me was wrong, because it was forced on me. It was wrong because they used their brand of torture to manipulate me. Nothing else would work for them, and once they had found that out, they stuck with it, relying on it.”

I started to say something, but she just shook her head.

“But what you want is much different than that. You like pain the way normal people,” I rolled my eyes at her words, and she smiled before continuing, “crave a gentle caress. Why is it so bad to give your lover something they want, when you lose nothing to do it for them? I’m not like Kelly, who is scared to go overboard with Marcus and explore the full extent of his real passions, though he forgives her for what she considers her drawbacks. That is what love is, giving and taking in equal amounts. Or at least it should be.” She added firmly.

I smiled at her thoughts. Though actual love in her life had been scarce, she had a real idea of what it should be like. She had seen true examples of it in her nine centuries, and she showed that to me.

But her mood changed when her memories shifted to the very recent events.

She let me see all of it in her mind. The long moments she had thought me dead, and just how she felt about that. For once, I didn’t feel that twinge of aloofness at the thought of another wishing to attach themselves too me in such a way as she was doing now.

“You have no desire to hurt me, and I like that. I honestly don’t believe the addiction will get to you, not like it did with Judo and the others. Corrine was actually the person to point that out to me, while you were in there with them,” she said thoughtfully. She shook her head.

“However you want me to hurt you. You have the most curious threshold for pain. I have never seen anything quite like it, even in Milindya. I think she sensed that right away, but only now is she beginning to understand what it means. You can take a lot, before pleasure turns to real hurt.” Catalym smiled, as if the idea pleased her.

A certain edge entered her gaze, and it made me harden. There was a wildness about her I wanted to sink into. The fact I never knew what to expect around her excited me.

“I wish to give you what you need Ryder. It electrifies me to be able to have such power over you. Judo never wanted anything like this, even to relinquish control in any tiny way.” Her smooth honeyed voice slid over me, and her hand sought my groin. “But, you want me to take you over, to make you beg. Do you have any idea how seductive that is to me?”

“And just what are you going to do?” I asked playfully. Every plane of my body was tight and straining for her skilful fingers to touch me.

My eyes shuddered when she gave me a lethal squeeze, just enough to drag my gaze from her face straight to her hand. Blood rushed to my groin, and made me throb in stark need. Her nails dug in exquisitely, dragging a sigh from my lips.

I could smell her desire, and it penetrated my brain until everything else was thrust out. There was no kidnapping, no raving best friend or worried Coven.

Only this woman’s liquid amethyst eyes held me captive.

“Do you like that Ryder?” Catalym whispered huskily and her stranglehold tightened.

“Yes.”

Then her head lowered over my groin.

Her teeth bit into me, and I couldn’t help pushing back into her. My hands went unwittingly to wrap into her bounty of hair as she sought to drive me insane.

Where her hands touched me, my jeans faded, until I felt the chilly stale air of the closet. Her hot little mouth closed over my cock, and took an inch at a time. Her cold hand cupped my balls to pull down deliciously roughly.

The skin tightened around my shaft, and threatened climax far before I was ready to. I wanted all of her. I wanted to take her, to throw her over the boxes and drive myself so deeply inside of her, I would never escape her or her me.

Her teeth dragged up and down my length as she passed. She took me in all the way before her head would come back up to almost dislodge me, just to take me all in again.

I growled and had to strive not to tighten my fingers in her hair, not to grip the back of her head and just slam my cock down her throat. Never had there been a test of my iron will so sweet as this.

Catalym’s caresses increased in speed, and I felt pleasure uncoil with her rough teeth, bringing me with her mouth. Her hand stroked me as her eyes rolled up to meet mine.

Flames still licked in her eyes, the desire not sated and just teasing her. Catalym’s power may have been more content now, but the woman wasn’t.

I grinned down at her, fully intending to flip her body over and impale her, but her mouth moved from me, licking her lips with her pink tongue.

Her lips closed directly over my artery, and bit down hard enough to draw blood with straight teeth. My sharp intake of breath made her squirm in delight. The liquid heat flashed devastatingly through me. I needed more, I craved it, in fact had to have it.

She bit me again, harder now. She smiled at the marks she left there, branding me hers. My rigid control slipped again, just like she had wanted it to.

Her other hand slipped through my legs and to my ass as she dug her nails in. She dragged them down to the back of my thighs so deeply I cried out. Long red scratches were left in their wake, the blood pooling low in my body. Every time she brought me to the edge, she left me to hang there, only to take me again.

“Fuck Cat, what are you doing to me?” I demanded throatily.

Her siren’s smile was rewarded with another moan torn from my throat as her nails dug into my ass to force me back toward her mouth.

I think I owe you from under the table at the very least.

The tightness of her throat was too much for me. She coaxed me to new heights, doing things to me no one had done before her, and I was pretty sure I didn’t want anyone else to do after her.

She used her unique magic much like she had in the bar. Energy raced across my skin, only to slow in a languid movement which intensified as each second passed.

My knees almost buckled at the cruel affect her magic had on me. The sensations of mouths on my body returned, and I better understood then the obsession as it worked differently than when she was unconscious. She was now directly manipulating it.

By her will alone, I stood on my own two feet.

BeautyFridays: Stacey Krug, Independent Sales Consultant

Hey Readers,

Today we have our very own Independent Beauty Consultant with us today, Stacey Krug. She brings us some expert advice, and if you contact her, she can give her more information on a range of products.

Beauty Tip #1

Don’t use any abrasive product on your face. Only use something that feels like silk. Abrasive products may speed up the aging process of your skin.

I have incredible products that will clean, moisturize, heal, and turn back the aging process.

Beauty Tip #2

As we age, our skin losses its effectiveness to slough off old skin cells; leaving us looking older than we actually are. To help combat this problem we need to exfoliate once or twice a week. Remember that you only want to use something that feels like silk on your skin, this includes exfoliating. Abrasive products may speed up the aging process of your skin.

I have an incredible exfoliating product that will renew your skin in just 10 minutes.

Beauty Tip #3

The first signs of aging usually occur around your eyes in the form of small lines and wrinkles. When applying eye products never pull or tug on the skin under or around your eye. Instead use your pinky or ring finger (the weakest fingers) to lightly dab in the product around your eye.

I have two incredible products that will help reduce sagging, puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles.

How old you are is your business, how young you look is mine!

RJ Scott Presents: Moments, Released this Saturday!

Dear Readers,

I remember way back seeing one of my favourite actors, Robert Downey Junior, standing in his orange jumpsuit hearing a sentence. I wondered if it would make any difference if he had been removed from the whole Hollywood scene. Out of this and some years on I created Jacob Riley - a child actor from a wealthy background who had it all. Jacob is spoilt, the actor that directors really don’t want on their films, but who is a big enough box office draw to get by each time. He is now in an episodic sci-fi drama about a time traveling vigilante and he really is on the edge. This is his last chance, and when his dad turns him in for possession he has nowhere left to run. He already has soft prison time under his belt, this time it would be for real.

Ethan Myers is also stuck between a rock and a hard place; he needs money to invest in the crumbling building he owns. Riley Senior offers him money to take in his actor son for six months, nd the money is the one thing that makes Ethan say yes.

When they meet they are backed up to the hilt with prejudice and start a hate/hate relationship with plenty of arguments and sniping and humor (my favourite kind!).

I hope you enjoy reading Moments as much as I enjoyed writing it,

RJ Scott

Both men stand at a crossroads, between one moment and the next in their lives.
It is only with the help of others can Jacob ever hope to find his way. Despite their hate/hate relationship, could a placement at Mac’s under the watchful eye of its enigmatic boss, Ethan Myers, be the ones to give Jacob his defining moment?
Sparks fly when attraction becomes something they can’t fight and their relationship grows against a background of disenfranchised street gang members, arson, the Oscars, and despite their own conceptions and misconceptions about each other and the worlds they come from.

This is from when Jacob first sees 'Mac's' - not sure what to rate this as - there is swearing, no sex. Not fully edited at this point... x

Jacob’s day had gone from bad to worse. Even his father’s chauffer, Benjamin, had joined the conspiracy, determinedly driving Jacob to his fate. I don’t deserve this crap! This is so damned unfair. He was one more bad thought away from shouting at Benjamin to stop the car so he could run into the hills, get a job as a farmhand, and avoid this whole compensating the public purse crap. In his mind he could already see himself; misunderstood young man, with the whole world against him, and framed for a crime he didn’t commit, meets the man of his dreams -- a sexy wrangler, with huge hands, a tight stomach and hip bones begging to be bitten and sucked, and—

"Mr. Riley. We will be there in five minutes sir." Shit, way to interrupt a perfectly good daydream, man. Jacob didn’t bother answering. It wasn’t as if Ben needed him to acknowledge what he had said. It was his job to drive and it was Jacob’s job to be the passenger -- period.

"Sir."

Jacob sighed in exasperation. Was he expecting Jacob to talk to him, to concede to his existence?

"Sir, I've instructions to take your cell phone." What the hell? Jacob bolted up from his comfortable slouch and glared at the back of Ben’s head.

"Excuse me?" he said disbelievingly.

"Your phone, sir. Mr. Riley has told me that I need to take your phone."

"What the fuck? I’m not giving you the phone." He saw the driver inhale a deep breath, building himself up for this little confrontation. Well at —his height and built like a—well built like someone who was built—Jacob could take on Ben any time, and come out the winner.

"It's a required proviso in your community service agreement, sir. I need to take the phone."

"Shit." Jacob dug into his jeans and pulled out the tiny phone, and used one freshly manicured nail to open the back and remove the SIM. He was damned if daddy dearest thought he was going to be able to use his own phone to investigate every part of his son’s life. Then he threw the cell into the front passenger seat where it bounced dramatically and quite satisfyingly, before falling to the floor.

Shit, shit, shit. He’d get another phone — screw them all. What was he? Twelve? Not to be trusted with a phone, for fuck’s sake? No, he was a grown man of twenty-six and quite capable of getting a replacement phone through fair means or foul. Watch this space, he thought to himself, just watch this space.

As the Riley sedan glided silently through the older, deteriorating residential areas of what Jacob thought must be the “inner city”, he slunk down in his seat until he was nearly in a nearly horizontal position. Streets buzzed with people of all ethnicities -- no doubt, he thought, unemployed and committing all kinds of crime. Being so far out of his comfort zone made him feel physically sick.

Finally they drew up outside a large lone house, surrounded by a lot paved with cracked concrete. Bay fronted, constructed of brown brick, sturdy and wide, it looked completely out of place in the otherwise desolate area.

He heard a group of people descending the broad stairs from the front door to the street before he saw them. They were all women -- rough and loud and jostling for position as they laughed their way from the building. They noticed the car — he guessed a tinted glass Mercedes in these parts was probably a drug dealer’s ride — and stopped and stared. Not for the first time since entering the city, he groaned inwardly. What if they knew who he was? What if they wanted photos? Shit, what if they wanted to touch him?

What lies behind the façade isn’t always what it seems

He declares Abigail for his own the moment they meet, despite the fact that another werewolf pack is in British Columbia looking to claim Abigail into their midst, no matter what they must do to see that goal complete.

Excerpt Four (Rated PG):

Abigail was nervous. Of course she would be. Who wouldn’t?

Being out of her realm of experience, she didn’t know how to take most of it, but the one thing she understood above everything else now; Cyrus meant her no harm. He’d been sincere in his efforts to protect her, even coming to her rescue. Something she’d been unacquainted with, but could fast get used to.

What could she say? Cyrus got under her skin.

Off a little in the distance she heard an eerie groan, one sounding like the entity emitting it was in unexpected pain. And it didn’t sound human – or anything even close to it. But before she could inquire about it…

“Sabern, something is coming out of the ground, by that grave,” one of the wolves said anxiously. “What should we do?”

“How am I supposed to know?” Sabern snapped with his eyes wide. “I don’t even know what’s going on.”

A piercing shriek of anger erupted from behind them, and all but Cyrus and Dina whirled to see what came for them now. The ground bulged and something unidentifiable tried to emerge.

Another one of the younger wolves lost control and exploded into his change with fits of screeching, adding to the strange noises going on around them.

Abigail didn’t know if she should be concerned, considering Cyrus and Dina appeared completely unruffled by all of this. Her attention never stayed on any one thing before something else dragged it to the next sight, and she couldn’t escape the feeling everything had barely begun.

Suspense petrified the atmosphere – or would that be whatever Dina whispered now? Could it be that she fed the wolves fear, because they became increasingly severe in their actions, far more than Abigail would’ve expected from an animal. She didn’t know any more than they did about the goings on, yet she remained far calmer than they could claim.

“I play for keeps.” Dina stared her in the eye. “I can read your mind much like I can theirs, Abby, and always have been able to. For vampires, there are a wide range of spells that do a vast amount of things. Of course I would use it in making them panic, like they would have preferred for you.”

Cyrus’ arm snaked around Abigail’s waist, and his lips pressed against her hair. “Watch the children scatter, and do not worry over the next little while. None of these monsters will harm you; they were raised only to protect you. By the time we are done this night, the Armstrongs will never invade your territory again, kotyonok.”

“But what if I want to fight?”

“Then by all means, do as you see fit. If you wish to impose your revenge on them, do so. Only know what is about to happen will not harm you.”

Abigail didn’t know a thing about black magic, never dabbling in any such art, but as she looked at her friend, she knew Dina had. In a strange way it comforted her, that along with their confidence over the coming battle.

She felt renewed. No longer fearing Sabern and crew would drag her back to Alberta. And if they escaped this situation alive, Cyrus would never let them come back. Abigail had never felt sheltered before, but she did now and she would pin that fact on the man at her side.

A ragged groan had Abigail whirling in the opposite direction to see a hand burst from the nearest grave, the frayed flesh barely clinging to the grayed bone that showed through the decay. Her superior senses had her wincing from the putrid smell brought with it. The ground itself shook like an earthquake on the verge of its peak. Graves in front and behind them ruptured in geysers, throwing dirt over the enemy, but strangely missing Dina, Cyrus and Abigail.

Confusion reigned and as promised, the wolves scattered.
