Summary:

The RedLine is the perfect haven for a man of Ryder’s extensive desires and tastes. He uses the women of the club, much like they do him, with little care to know anything more than their names, sometimes even less than that. His reputation for open-minded, tantalizing sex was renowned, and willing victims for this particular vampire were never at a shortage. At least until Catalym comes crashing into his life, taking over from the moment they’d met. And it isn’t long before her past life’s tribulations follow her, including a dangerous ex-boyfriend who is hiding far more than Ryder or his friends could ever guess.

Review:

Kayden McLeod spins a tale in Carnal Magnetism that sucks you in at the beginning and doesn’t let you go. You won’t be able to put down this entrancing story of a vampire family formed from need, but able to stay together because of love.

Ryder is a rogue gentleman, but with old world valor. He belongs to a vampire coven that protects and loves their members. Then along comes Catalym, a pureblood vampire that has been used horribly by her family. Sheltered and abused for most of her life, Catalym still manages to hold onto an air of innocence and wonderment. All of Ryder’s protective instincts come forth and will not be denied. Ryder quickly falls under Catalym’s spell, for she is charming, beautiful, and smart. What else could Ryder do, but protect Catalym from her crazy family?

However, protection from her family is not all she requires. Catalym must be able to feed not only on blood, but on the sexual energy she needs to survive. Ryder can handle it though, and doesn’t mind feeding Catalym anything she wants. Their sexual encounters are erotic and hot! Soon, under Ryder’s care, Catalym starts to blossom into the vampire she was always meant to be.

Not only does Kayden McLeod supply us with a sexy, erotic story, but humor as well. This coven of vampires’ antics will have you laughing out loud! These boys know how to have fun, and the girls can give as well as they get!

Plot twists and turns keep the action going and the reader on their toes! The cliff hanger ending leaves you wanting more. This is a great addition to The Cornwall Coven Series that you won’t want to miss!

Summary:

Jessalyn, a once vibrant woman, has been diagnosed with cancer and is slowly fading away. Her boss, Orion, has desired her for a long time and hates to see her in such a state. He knows someone who can help Jessalyn recover, but will she be willing to pay the price? Or will a night of erotic passion with two vampires be too much for the quiet woman?

Excerpt:

There were many different types of vampires. He was an energy reader. He couldn’t make other vampires, or heal with his blood, but he could hear thoughts and read what some humans called auras. It made him vulnerable to enduring human emotions; it also gave him the ability to indulge in human sensation while he fed. The vampire who made him was the worst kind, a replicating vampire. They felt a consuming need to infect others and to indulge in all things abundantly.

A replicating vamp often lived extravagantly appealing to human id and ego to seduce in prey. Because only a few rare humans carried the gene that would cause them to become a vampire, such as Orion, the rampant killing of a replicator brought unwanted attention to their kind.

The third kind of vampires was rare and beautiful they were healers. These did not ingest blood and instead lived off the inner energy of the humans they encountered. They lived the longest and were the rarest of all vampires. He’d never encountered one younger than a thousand years old. They were amazing ethereal creatures and Orion always felt humbled in one’s presence.

He thought of these healers every time he looked at Jessalyn. Her cancer was killing her; she had no human medical hope. Each day she lived as happily as she could, even with the death sentence hanging over her head. It made him so angry to think of her dead. There was only one way that he could help her, but it would put everything that he had built for himself in jeopardy. With his power and that of a healer, they could cure her, save her, but she would have to be open and pliable to the experience of two vampires making love to her. The act would be so intense that the experience alone might kill her.

Happily, Orion would give her all he had to give, but he’d have to find a healer, and Jessalyn would have to accept the fact vampires existed in the world and be willing to drink from a healer while Orion drank from her. Most mortals would certainly prefer death to such an act; he would have lacked the courage if such a choice had presented itself during his mortal life. Sweet, beautiful Jessalyn had such a zest for life, and love for her offspring that he felt she might be willing to try it. She didn’t seem the type to just roll over and embrace death willingly.

Summary:

Sam has discovered something horrible...Her mother is on Mirage Island! But in order to free her mother from her prison, Sam will need the help of her sister and her friends. Finding Tabby is no easy task and requires Sam to make another trip into the Bad Lands, the place she promised she wouldn't return to, but with Davis there to lend a hand she feels safe and confident.

Excerpt:

Winter gave way to spring. One Saturday, Sam was bored and decided to explore the base. The soldiers had become used to her presence and she managed to get herself into a restricted area. Enjoying the adventure, she decided to see how far into the building she could get, before they stopped her. Walking down twisting corridors, soon she felt lost. A door at the end of a long hall was marked “Experimentation Facility”. It sounded interesting so she went inside. There were many doors, Sam opened one and poked her head in. The room was full of monitors. To her horror, she recognized the long lost Thompson twins. Ransom had been right; they’d been taken by the military. Something to her right caught her eye and she turned transfixed at the screen. Her startled cry was unavoidable.

“Mom?”

A woman sitting in one of the prison cell-like rooms had to be her mother. There was no mistaking it. What was her mother doing on Mirage Island?

Fear and confusion made Sam feel sick to her stomach. Watching the monitor, she could see that her mother didn’t look well. What were they doing to her? Terror pierced her heart. Did her father know about this? How could the General not know that his wife was a captive on the military base he was in charge of and oversaw daily? Anger filled Sam. Her father was cold, but this was just monstrous!
Stumbling back, she lost her composure and scrambled away from the truth of the black and white monitor. Tears ran down her face and she ran down the sterile twisting corridors, hopelessly lost.

Confusion and fear battled in her mind for dominance. Anger gnawed at her relentlessly. How could she help her mother? How could her father have let this happen? Had her mother been there for the three years that she’d been missing or had her father put her mother in the room himself? Unsure of the world and feeling small Sam sobbed as she ran.

Suddenly she felt someone grab her. It was a MP she recognized.

“What are you doing in here Sam? Are you all right, sweetie?”

She decided in that moment to trust no one. “I’m lost; help me get out of here. I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t be here.” Her honest sobbing convinced him that she was only afraid. He patted her on the head like a little child or pet and spoke reassuringly. Her farce had been fully successful.

“It’s all right, sweetie. I won’t tell your father about this, but no more exploring on the base, all right?”

She nodded her head fiercely, glad that he didn’t look farther into her reasons for being in the building, glad he hadn’t wanted to know what she’d seen. Calming down, she made herself keep track of where they were. She knew she’d need to return and help her mother. When they were outside, she numbly thanked the young MP and ran home, sobbing.

Throwing herself onto her bed, she sobbed until the initial shock wore off. She needed Tabitha. Tabby needed to know about their mother! It was only half past noon. She rushed outside to the Jeep that her father had given her to use for the summer. Trying to look casual, she left the base, giving the guard a friendly wave and fake smile.

Her soul was bleeding as she drove to Ransom’s house. Ransom was her best friend, and a mermaid. Needing both consoling and advice, Sam hurried inside. Cindy, Ransom’s mom was at work at her salon. When Sam saw her trusted friend, she burst into a renewed fit of tears.

“You never cry, what’s going on?” Genuine worry peppered her friend’s words.

“I’m scared. I think my mother is being held prisoner on the base, being experimented on.”

Summary:

When Thanksgiving dinner with Shane doesn't go as planned, Sam is worried that their relationship has come to an end. With Jorge, Shane's dad, hating and her, and her own father threatening to send her away, Sam is more than a little upset. But Christmas is soon around the corner and with it arrives more than one Christmas miracle...

Excerpt:

Morning arrived and Sam woke up stiff and exhausted. After the worse dance in school history she, Shane, Colin, and Davis had spent the night at Ransom’s house. Vampires and other kids from the Bad Lands had crashed the dance and Colin had saved Sam’s life with his time shifting ability. Ransom was her mermaid BFF and Colin was Ransom’s new boyfriend. Davis lived in the Bad Lands, but he had come to cause trouble. He had feelings for Sam and wanted to warn her, Shane hadn’t been happy to see him.

She went into the bathroom, washed the makeup off her face, and changed out of her dress and into her jeans and t-shirt. Everyone else was still asleep except for Cindy. The woman stood staring out the window and drinking her coffee.

“Good morning, Cindy.” Sam’s quiet words caused her to jump, spilling her hot drink. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s alright Sam. Looks as if we made it the sun is up and we're all alive. I didn’t sleep a wink.”

“I’m sorry about all of this, Cindy.”

The woman moved to put her arm around Sam. “Honey, it’s not your fault. Those kids have done this before, more than once. I talked to Shane’s mom this morning. She said that the wolves got all the Bad Landers rounded up and sent home. It’s all right, no one was killed, but the principle is in the hospital. There’s a lot of damage at the school, but it will be fixed up by Monday. The PTO is rounding up parents to come help with repairs this weekend. The vampire king is paying for the repairs, as most of the hooligans were vamp kids. How are you feeling?”

“Terrible, but I’m glad we got out of there without getting hurt.”

“What about the wolves, they looked pretty banged up.”

“They did that to each other, I think we were lucky that it wasn’t worse.”

“I do too. So this Davis, is he an alpha too?”

“Yes, how did you know?”

“I’ve been around enough wolves to know. I dated Shane’s father in high school. I bet you didn’t know that. I wasn’t the One.” She smiled a sad smile.

“What is all the One stuff? I’ve heard them both talk about it too.”

“Sweetie, werewolves mate for life. The One is the girl meant for the wolf forever. Jorge cared for me, a lot, but I wasn’t the One, it hurt but I see now that whatever cosmic force that makes this decision was right. Jorge had no choice, he loves Shane’s mom in a very special way. I was lucky, I found Ransom’s dad and before he died, I was very happy. Everything works the way it works for a reason.

“Davis and Shane will have to fight for their position as alpha someday, that is why they both feel like they do about you. Until one of them becomes alpha, you could chose either of them and be the one for them. You’re far too young to make this type of a decision, and your human, it’s not going to be easy for you, Sam. When you do decide you will make the right choice. Just don’t let the boys tear you in half.” With a sweet sad smile, she chuckled.

Sam felt terrified with her new knowledge of what being the One meant. She cared for Shane and liked Davis as a friend, but she wasn’t ready to make any major life decisions. Shivering, she wondered which one of their hearts she’d break.

Everyone slowly began to wake up. Sam and Ransom helped Cindy make breakfast. The General was coming for her soon. Everyone ate and helped clean up. Davis left, giving Colin a ride home. Shane’s dad picked him up and Sam noticed that Jorge only honked for his son. She wondered if it hurt him to see Cindy or if he was just too lazy to get out of the car. When the General arrived all signs of the boys was gone, to Sam’s relief.

On the ride home, the General showed no sign that he knew about the trouble at the school and Sam decided not to tell him. She didn’t want her school activity privileges revoked for the rest of her life! They drove the short way home in awkward silence.

Finally, just before the ride ended the General spoke, startling Sam. “How was the dance?”

“It was more exciting than I expected. Thanks for letting me go, General.”

He seemed pleased. Looking out the window, Sam thought about Tabby and wondered how she was and where she was. When she’d woken up, she’d remembered something from the chaos. Tabby had been there, but Sam hadn’t seen Evan. Mirage Island kept secrets, and so could she.

Summary:

It's time for the fall dance, and even though Tabby is still missing in the Bad Lands, Sam is looking forward to a night with Shane and her friends. But some of the creatures in the Bad Lands have plans for the Mirage High dance, and Sam will once again be in danger.

Excerpt:

Weeks had passed and Tabby wasn't home yet. The General refused to let them declare her dead. He and Sam lived in a tense stated of anxious waiting. The General hadn’t sent her to live with her aunt; somehow, he knew they both needed to be together, waiting.

* * *

Sam woke feeling groggy because she had to get up early for the first day of school and she needed to get her routine back again. Glancing at Tabby’s empty bed, she knew it would be a difficult day, knowing that her sister wouldn’t be home when she returned. She grabbed her generic backpack that she’d bought at the town’s only store and felt the weight of all her supplies. She’d be glad to empty it into her locker when she got to school.

The familiar purr of Shane’s motorcycle pulled up in front of the house. She looked at the General questioningly. He shrugged and spoke quietly.

“I gave him a pass. I figured you might want someone more cheerful to bring you to school on the first day.”

“Thanks General!” He gave a small grin, which surprised her. Maybe junior year wouldn’t be so terrible after all.

Awkwardly she got on the bike behind Shane, her gianormous backpack impeded her, but she did manage to get on the bike. Shane took off and Sam didn’t even worry about her hair. She was going to be arriving at school with the hottest boy in town, who cared about her hair when she had that kind of fabulous social status to rock! Her arms wrapped tightly around his hard body and she relished the feeling. It was going to be an interesting first day.

When they arrived, everyone stopped and stared at them. Sam hid behind Shane; he was the alpha wolf of all the teen werewolves that lived respectably in Mirage. The rougher unlawful wolves lived in the Bad Lands, where her sister was hiding. The teen alpha that lived there was called Davis, and for some reason he liked her too.

Geesh, I must have wolf attracting pheromones or something. Sam rolled her eyes at the thought.

Summary:

After running away, Tabby finds Evan and convinces him to take her to Oasis, in the hopes she can be turned. But Sam is worried about her sister, and going against both Shane's and the General's orders, she decides to cross back into the Bad Lands. With the help of Davis, Sam tries to track down Tabby, hoping she can convince her sister to come back home.

Excerpt:

Waking to find her sister gone, Sam knew the terrible truth of where she’d gone. She hated to have to tell the General, her father, but she did.

“Dad, I need to tell you something.”

His head snapped up at the sound of her using “dad”. It was obvious to her that he knew she had something important to say. Having his full attention, she told him what she suspected.

“I think Tabby has run away, to live with the vampires.”

The General’s chair tipped back and fell with a clatter against the aged linoleum of the kitchen floor. He dropped his paperwork and all but ran from the house. Sam knew that he wouldn’t question her suspicion. She knew how her sister thought and their father knew how close they were. The General was going hunting…vampire hunting.
A whirlwind of activity erupted on the base. It seemed that the General was making finding his youngest daughter top priority. Sam anxiously stared out the living room window watching the commotion, praying that they would find her sister alive. She thought about the little information that Tabby had told her. Her mind replayed the conversation from the previous night in detail.

**

“Sam do you promise not to tell dad if I tell you what’s up, you have to promise?” It was serious she’d called the General dad.

“Ok, just tell me Tab.”

“I’m going to see Evan. I have to tell him goodbye.”

“Are you crazy? I’m not letting you anywhere near that crazy Bad Land killer creature zone again! You almost died. Do you realize how much that freaked me out? I love you; I won’t let you go play with things that want to eat you!”

“Oh, so you can have a werewolf boyfriend but I can’t have a boyfriend. Evan didn’t hurt me.”

“One of his buddies hurt you. It’s too dangerous. Shane wouldn’t hurt me. He’s risked his life twice for me. So yeah, I can have a werewolf boyfriend but you can’t have a vampire boyfriend. I will totally nark on you if you sneak off to be some creep’s bedtime snack. I won’t let you die. Why do you care about that vampire? He let you get hurt.”

“He didn’t let me get hurt. I didn’t listen to him. He told me to stay away from Oasis and I just went to make him mad.”

“What the heck is Oasis? Why on Earth would you want to make a
vampire mad?”

“He wouldn’t bite me.” She never answered as to what Oasis was. Sam just let it slid, too curious about the other part of her question to dwell on her first question.

“You want a vampire to bite you? What is wrong with you? Maybe we should leave. This place is messing with your head!” Her words obviously irritated Tabby and she rolled over making an angry noise in the back of her throat.

***

Oasis had to have something to do with Tabby leaving. She’d been vague about what Oasis was, but it had been important enough to her to risk her life. Whatever had led her to Oasis had led to the attack that’d almost killed her. Her recovery had also been a mystery. Sam decided she needed to solve the mystery before it killed her sister!
